Adult Volunteering

Reigate Scouts, it’s Groups and Units run exclusively through the generosity of it’s 200 volunteers, the fact you have landed on this page
suggests you would like to join us, sharing your time and skills with 1300 young people.

Please remember that your volunteering journey with Reigate Scouting will require an enhanced DBS check to be carried out,
and some basic training to ensure our young people are in good hands.
The training will depend on your role, and may involve some travel.

So…….how would you like to help?   Here are the various Roles that you might like to consider:

Occasional Helper: Parents of a young person already attending a section may want to offer their help on an occasional basis,
helping out on the Parent Rota/camps/outings etc.  No training or Appointments Procedure is required for this Role.

Section Assistant: This Role will suit an adult who wants to be a bit more than an Occasional Helper.
There will be a minimal amount of training required and the Appointments Procedure will need to be completed.

Assistant Section Leader: An adult who wants to commit more time and is prepared to complete the Scout Associations adult training scheme,
would be suited to this Role.  The Appointments Procedure applies to this Role too.

Section Leader: Now this Role takes real commitment and enthusiasm as it is a fairly big responsibility.
You would be required to complete the adult training scheme as above and the Appointments Procedure also applies.

Active Support: This allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis.
People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.
Scout Active Support is for anyone over the age of 18 years.
It is a way for adults to volunteer time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them. See the Active Support page

We are the UK’s biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25 year olds fun and challenging activities,
unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

We really look forward to your joining our fantastic team.

The Scouts award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people.

Scouting makes a positive contribution to society by helping young people to develop as active members of the community:
